Fished Saturday in the first IBEW Local 246 Tournament held out of Vermilion. Team Budman won the tournament after catching both perch and some real nice walleyes. We fished two miles northeast of the Vermilion break wall for the perch and managed 115 pounds of perch for three boats. We ran west of the Huron dump 28.5-30/30-31 lines and fished for three hours. Our team caught the most walleye with four ( 2@26, 27 and 28) all while trolling in a westerly direction. No pull downs running west to east. Good number of marks with most of the fish 36 to 38 feet. We pulled three fish on Reef Runners with two once inline weights back 100, 170 and 190 and one fish on a high diver 85 back (RR Ripsteak).
The largest tournament fish was 29 3/4 inches caught on a Reef Runner with a two once weight 190 back. There are more walleye marks in the Huron area than Vermilion but this should change soon. If anyone wants to share your walleye success with other walleye fisherman just enter your information here in the post comment window below. Sure hope we get some relief from the wind it has been a very slow September and October. See you on the water!
