ODNR LAKE ERIE FISHING REPORT 1/29

LAKE - WIDE

Where: Ice anglers have been catching walleye, primarily west and northwest of Catawba Island, and west of South Bass Island around Green and Rattlesnake Islands. Fish have also been caught in front of Magee Marsh Wildlife Area. Be cautious when ice fishing the offshore areas of Lake Erie, since ice conditions can change quickly due to water currents and wind.

How: Most Lake Ere ice anglers targeting walleye use jigging spoons tipped with emerald shiners.

JUVENILE ASIAN CARP

A good friend of mine sent this Michigan DNR video to me and I thought it was very informational and something that we as fisherman can use when purchasing bait. The video will give us some points on how to identify juvenile Big Head and Silver Asian Carp. There is a few seconds of commercials to watch before the DNR video starts. I am interested in your comments on the video. Click on the golden shiner.

ICE FISHING REPORTS 1/21/2014

First of all a belated Happy New Year to everyone, just before Christmas my Mac Book Pro crashed and I had to replace it. I am up and running again and will be posting again on my Website. There have been some  reports of walleyes being caught through the ice around Green Island, west of Catawba State Park and around Mouse Island. Another great resource for current information on ice fishing is OGF.com and I would suggest everyone register for this site very informational all year around. See you on the ice.........NOT.
